On December 9, 2015 the Committee on Culture and Spirituality conducted a roundtable discussion “Legislative regulation of charity: international experience and Ukrainian challenges”; among participants of which were members of Parliament – members of the Committee on Culture and Spirituality, representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, of charity funds and non-governmental organizations, experts in fields of the relevant legislation.

Vita Forsiuk, Head of Tax Practice in Jurimex, expert of #TaxLink, gave a report “On international practice of tax benefits for sponsors”, which sparked great interest of participants of the roundtable discussion.

Participants also discussed the issue regarding encouragement of taxpayers to charity by revival of awareness-building among citizens of Ukraine. Participants of the roundtable discussion emphasized necessity to extend tax benefits for charity givers and to ease the charitable donations mechanism for individuals as well as suggested the Committee to form a working group with the involvement of charitable environment experts in order to work out necessary draft bills.
