On May 22, 2013 the conference Satellite TV: Strategies and Risks of the Ukrainian Market was held within the framework of the XIX Kyiv International TV and Radio Fair. Yuriy Krainyak, managing partner of Jurimex law firm, and Oksana Yefimchuk, senior lawyer, took active participation in the conference.
Yuriy Kraynyak told about legal regulation of satellite broadcasting in Ukraine. The report explained in detail the statutory licensing procedures, disclosed the nuances of the implementation by satellite broadcasters of their rights in relations with regulatory bodies, as well as many other practical issues. Yuriy put a special emphasis in his speech on the latest, relevant case law related to the disputes over licensing broadcasting.
"The established procedure for the issuance of satellite licenses is quite simple and is of a purely formal nature. The law clearly defines the cases in which the National Council has the right to refuse to issue such a license. But it has happened in Ukraine that the real activity of the National Council in licensing satellite TV is far from the statutory framework. That is why knowledge of their rights, a clear understanding of the powers of the National Council, is extremely important for anyone who wants to receive or has already received a license for satellite broadcasting", - summed up Yuriy Krayniak in his speech.
