Yuriy Krainiak, managing partner of Jurimex law firm, participated in the panel discussion on the development of cinema and television, held within the framework of the annual Media Law Conference. In his speech, Yuriy told about the main trends in the legislative regulation of video production, which was scheduled for the end of 2017. In particular, the latest bills devoted to the topic of discussion were analyzed; their main disadvantages and advantages were mentioned.
"In recent years, we are observing how the state gradually increases the level of regulation of media content." Initially, restrictions and prohibition only concerned propaganda films that glorified the power structures of the aggressor country. "Channels had two ways of responding, either to comply with the law in good faith, or to seek ways to circumvent it.
Some broadcasters chose the second option, which triggered increased government regulation and more stringent legislative regulations. And most legislative initiatives this year are aimed mainly at eliminating disadvantages, that is to fight phenomena that were artificially created by a small number of broadcasters. While the end is unclear, it's understandable now that such a game only complicates the existence of the market, and the search for disadvantages only gives a temporary effect”.
