JURIMEX WELCOMES A NEW PARTNER
JURIMEX WELCOMES A NEW PARTNER

Jurimex is pleased to announce that Oleg Chayka has joined its team as a Partner and Head of the International Tax and Cross-Border Transactions practice.

Oleg has more than 20 years of professional experience advising leading international and Ukrainian clients on various tax and legal matters, and representing clients in Ukrainian courts and international arbitration in connection with tax matters.   Oleg has also been elected many times as a co-chair of the Tax Committee, the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine.

Oleg used to work in the International Tax Department of KPMG in Canada.  Then he was the Head of the M&A (Tax) practice and contributed to developing the International Tax and Tax Dispute Resolution practices of KPMG in Ukraine.

For the past 20 months, Oleg has been working in the International Tax Department of KPMG in Malta where he was in charge of tax structuring of business projects, establishing and servicing of foreign structures for corporate groups from Ukraine, Russia and other CIS countries. In Malta, Oleg was learning European tax law and approaches of different countries to implementing the BEPS Action Plan.  He also personally developed and assisted in implementing various tax solutions, including solutions aimed at addressing the economic substance requirements that were introduced by certain jurisdictions earlier this year.

In Jurimex Oleg will be in charge of tax structuring of investments and financing of business projects of Ukrainian companies abroad and of foreign companies in Ukraine, taxation of mergers and acquisitions and corporate reorganizations, as well as litigation that involves international tax aspects and transfer pricing.

Yuriy Krainiak, Managing Partner of Jurimex, commented on Oleg Chayka’s joining the Jurimex team:

“"Given the on-going global reform of the international tax system that has recently reached Ukraine when our country joined the MLI – Multilateral Convention to Implement Tax Treaty Related Measures to Prevent BEPS, management of Jurimex acknowledged the urgent need to get an experienced international tax expert on board who would not only understand the implications and impact of this reform on businesses, but who could also produce the relevant solutions to clients.

We are pleased that Oleg Chayka agreed to lead the International Tax and Cross-Border Transactions practice of Jurimex. We are confident that his tax knowledge and experience, authority in the Ukrainian legal community and impeccable reputation among the clients will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the firm and will make Jurimex a leader in the area of international tax and cross-border transactions.  We wish Oleg success in developing the practice.”

Oleg Chayka commented on his appointment as follows:

“I look forward to joining the Jurimex team. The integrity and professionalism of Jurimex management and their unmatched attention to innovations (TaxLink, a well-known online tax platform, is only one innovative IT product to mention) were the main factors that prompted  my decision.  Objectively Jurimex already has one of the largest and strongest tax practices among all Ukrainian law firms. I am confident that my knowledge, experience, creativity and numerous contacts both in Ukraine and abroad will bring new competencies to Jurimex, and will help a great deal to expand the range of services and the clientele”.
